Elections in Myanmar: 2015 General Elections

On November 8, 2015, Myanmar voters will directly elect representatives to the Amoytha Hluttaw, Myanmar’s upper house of Parliament; the Pyithu Hluttaw, Parliament’s lower house; and State and Region Assemblies. Some voters will also elect Ethnic Affairs Ministers.

The 2015 elections will be an important milestone in Myanmar’s democratic transition. Approximately 33.5 million people are included on the voter list for the upcoming election, and for many of them, this will be their first time voting.
