Japan’s Ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Wins Big in Snap Election

Located in East Asia, Japan has a population of 127,103,388 with approximately 103,959,866 registered voters.[ii]  Preliminary results have the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its coalition partners winning 326 seats (over a two-thirds majority).[iii] The opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) won 73 seats.[iv] Turnout for the election was at 52.7 percent and final results are due in the coming days.[v]
